Tera Prop Fan Art 2 | WIPs!

Work In Progress / 08 April 2019

So I've been working again on some more fan art props based off concept art for Tera ( a MMORPG).

Here's a bit of a breakdown of where the assets are currently at, and a little bit on how they are made! :)

As they are fairly simplistic on their own I've decided to do them all as a single project when finished, and would like to pop them all together into one nice render at the end.

The first asset is a simple crate, but I really liked the detail shown in the concept, and sought to really push this in the texturing. I'll be trying to match the concept as close as possible, but aim to hit a more realistic look on the materials used.

For the high poly I've chosen to only sculpt in the larger detail; smaller details like wood grain/ scratches etc can be added and controlled/ edited more easily in substance painter.

The second prop I'm working is a nice wicker basket. for the wicker itself I created a weave pattern in Maya, brought this into ZBrush and baked out a tiling alpha. This was then used with surface noise to tile across the mid section.

Current basket texture. I'll be looking to match the leather a little bit closer to the source, and fix up the metal joints for the rope as well as the sheen on the wicker.

A quick render from the current set up in Marmoset; I tend to create a mock scene when working on assets and cross check them using it, this is mainly to see if the asset is looking good with its texture work and if it's working within the environment / current light set up.

Progress so far. I intend to build up this mini scene with a few more assets. One idea I had was that these assets belong to a marketplace/ tavern themed area and maybe there was knocked over produce on the floor (from the baskets) and possibly some mugs of ale left lying around.

I'll likely be wrapping up these assets soon, so keep an eye out for updates! :D
